When it comes time to find a reception venue for your wedding, we have some advice that you will truly want to heed. You need to be very wily because there are so many issues to take into consideration. Keep in mind that cost is only one consideration. If you rent a venue based on cost alone, you may end up very unhappy in the end. Signing a contract may tie you to much more than the venue alone. For instance, some venues have it written in their contract that you must hire a caterer that they will provide. The same goes for the wedding coordinator. The main thing to keep in mind when you being your search for your venue is to look for value where you are not agreeing to anything that you do not want. So, as you head out into the Houston area to look for your dream venue, we have provided a list of questions and tips that should help you land the perfect venue for you and all of your guests.
So, before we can look at any venues we need to have a few venues to look at. Your best bet is to check with some of your friends and family and see if they are aware of or have booked any great venues that you might need to check out. Also, do a Google search for reception venues in the Houston area. Click on some of the results that pop up and write down or print off any of the venues that you would like to check out further. Also, ask your other vendors if they have any recommendations, they should certainly know if anyone does. Your next step is to call each venue you are interested in and see if they are available on your wedding date. For the ones that are, setup a time for you to visit the venue, be given a tour and interview a representative. The first question out of your mouth should be about the size of the venue and whether it will house the number of guests you will be having. Keep in mind that we are not just talking about people but you need room for tables, chairs, the band, a bar area, a dance floor and more.
Is there adequate lighting? A dimly lit room can make for a less than enjoyable time. If there are considerations that matter to you, then you want to be sure and check out that particular issue. For instance, are you interested in the room having a great view. If so, you probably aren't interested in a room that has four walls and no windows. What about the decor? Check out the carpeting, artwork, architecture, furniture, and type of lighting. Does it coincide with your wedding decor? What about the number of outlets that the room has? Remember, your entertainment is going to need a certain number of outlets. What about the acoustics? Is their enough parking for the amount of attendees that will be arriving? These are all important considerations.
Your wedding reception venue doesn't have to be exactly perfect, but it should satisfy most of elements that you are looking for. As long as you are happy and your guests are happy, then that is all that matters.
